Hi everyone,

A few months ago I bought a 3yr old set of Boston CS-series speakers, including a CS Sub10.

Recently, the sub started making these loud rumbling noises whenever it has power and is switched on, regardless of whether there is any input connected or not. The noises aren't consistent, and sound similar to a microphone being scratched, except of course at a very low frequency.

The panel at the back has a POWER MODE toggle switch, with settings MUTE/AUTO/ON, and an LED marked "GREEN = ON, RED = STANDBY". If I toggle it to either AUTO or ON, the light flickers like it's not making a connection properly, and immediately the rumbling starts. When on MUTE, everything is of course quiet.

Is this something I can potentially open up and investigate myself, or should I take it to a professional? If so, can anyone recommend someone in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town? I'm based in Claremont.

Any input appreciated!
