Was just thinking how much things have changed in terms of the PA systems for school halls and churches. When I was still a kiddie, schools that had "large" PA systems in their halls had two rather tall column speakers with 4 or 6 small drive units, rated at maybe 30W max. each, 100V line transformers and a 20 to 60W TOA or Philips amp, mono cassette player and a single mic.

Churches used pretty much identical setups.

Now it is unusual to walk into any church or school hall and not find at least two to four 15" PA cabinets in a stereo setup, probably with a very substantial power amp or powered mixer, not to mention expensive diversity UHF wireless mics.
