Reading a recent article in Stereonet, the following statement was made : “For example, a standard grand piano reaches down to 27.5Hz (A4), and a bass trombone dives even lower to 23Hz. An orchestral double-bass is capable of 32.7Hz (C3), and even the much-loved Fender Bass is capable of 41.2Hz”
I usually used the low E string E 41.2 Hz as a reference, until I saw the above, and my curiosity got the better of me. My non forum musician friend sent me a pic of an orchestral Octobass, and I literally fell off my seat. I have been to an seen orchestras, but never this particular instrument.
