James Murphy, of LCD Soundsystem fame, has developed an "audiophile" dancefloor soundsystem named Despacio in an attempt to prioritise good audio quality sound over the current obsession with high volume cult DJ concerts. Despacio means "slow" in Spanish. The soundsystem comprises "eight speaker stacks each standing at 11 feet and powered 48 McIntosh amplifiers at ?22,000 a piece, close to 50,000 watts".
