Thorens TD800 turntable with TP300 tone arm (a Rega RB300 in an adjustable VTA collar).
This particular model was priced at 1800 euros. That's a cool 25k today.used samples seem to fetch 900 euro's.
This is a rare chance to own a new deck way above the performance norm at this price.
Price is R13000 and will include a SUMIKO Pearl cartridge.
This turntable is new in that it has never played. It's box was robbed for some parts by a previous distributor and maybe some just got misplaced and it ended up forgotten in a corner. The bearing housing is still sealed, platter never fitted, the transit tape still on the arm and no cartridge ever fitted.
I imported brand new belts and a new (improved) Thorens speed controller for it and built a superior power supply.
The chassis is made of 19-mm thick high-density wood. Standing on three polymer-damped adjustable feet that are also height adjustable, the chassis is decoupled and isolated from the mounting surface. The Thorens silent run bearing is made of two sinter bushes with a polished stainless steel axle running inside. The tungsten ball at the end is running on a self-lubricating and absolutely maintenance-free bearing point. The low-noise AC motor is supplied from an electronic motor drive unit. The output signal is generated completely independent from the mains power. With this you get much better wow/flutter and virtually no distortion from the mains power source.
Comes with Thorens TP 300 tonearm.
