I can't hear a difference (when using my Hifiman HE400 headphones and Maverick Audio D1 DAC/head amp) between Tidal's top tier streaming and Google Play Music sound quality set to 'Always high'.
I'm listening via a 50Mbs connection.
Tidal claims lossless and Google does MP3 320kbps, from what I gather. The latter can of course change the quality as required by the internet connection speed. Not sure about Tidal. I hope they don't because their buffering even on this line speed is a little annoying at times.
Am I doing it wrong or is the difference just so diminishingly small that the difference can not be picked up on half decent gear?
