Some time back I posted here on this forum and on AVSA class ads , 'Looking for a Pioneer amp and/or components'.
I got a ton of LPs and cassettes and thought a classic stack system would just be 'perfect' - old school system for old school music . And affordable to my small budget.
Anyway... I got a message from a guy who say the ad on AVSA . He had a Pioneer SA-520 for sale . It was basically what I wanted , so I arranged to see him . Being a trusting person , I met him and collected the amp without testing it ...
Came home to discover it was a dud . Tried calling him - his disposable sim was already out. Opened the amp up and there were just some resistors burned . No biggie. I'll get it fixed .
So , I post here on the forum if somebody could recommend a good tech in Durban who could repair the amp .
I got an email from somebody who saw the post . Said he could do it . I was a bit broke and told him I'm putting it on hold for a while . He'd message me constantly . The guy was always insistent that he'll pick up the amp , and check it out . When I suggested I drop it off , he got upset . Very "upset" .
A friend had a similar experience . The guy takes the stuff , strips it to pieces , then give a sky-high quote . And if you refuse you have to pay a high amount for the quote or take back the stuff in pieces .
OR the person just disappears with the stuff .
Going through AVSA today , I see that guy has an ad there . How do I report him ? He didn't manage to scam me , but somebody could be a victim .
Seems trolls and scammers are right here in our midst .
I didn't even start my "start off" set and already so much negativity .
