Hello,
I don't know if this perhaps belong to the DIY section, but please excuse my ignorant question:
Why are tube amps so relatively expensive?
Is it the valves themselves?
I think I've heard that the transformers are expensive? Due to precision hand winding? or the copper inside?
Or is it the capacitors?
The internal cabling?
Or the big amount of labour involved in building one / the fact that they're generally not mass-produced by machines?
Or the chassis layout / material?
Perception of exclusivity?
Also, why are they so heavy? I mean apart from the more sturdy construction than average sand amp.
Any thoughts welcome!
Regards
Leon
