So a good friend of mine is starting a dedicated stereo setup from scratch. Including finally switching over to vinyl. Budget is NOT unlimited.

I'd been advising him to look out for good 2nd hand deals - here on the forum. And there are many. I started with a 2nd hand Rega Planar3, and have since moved to a 70's Linn LP12, which I'm EXTREMELY happy with. But my mate's "hifi guy" is offering him a brand new Clearaudio for around R15,000 all-in (so I guess it can only be a Concept), which also gets amazing reviews.

I know he can pick up a great deck for under R5,000 - but would that be a better or worse proposition than the Clearaudio...? Of course the benefit of the cheaper deck is having more cash to spend on the rest of the setup. He can get a pair of B&W CDM 1NT at a great price, so those would be the likely speakers.

Looking at reviews of the Clearaudio, it certainly seems amazing... But I'm still committed to my Linn. Or should I be...?

Let the opinions flow...
