Upgrade advice

Hi guys,

Kind a newbie here. This will be my first post.

I just wanted some advice on my current setup, my dad purchased the below in the 2000’s I believe. We have been using it for a while, however, I am looking for something more. I just wanted to find out if upgrading the receiver will be worth it or not really. Looking to upgrade it to a true 5.1 without breaking the bank. I believe the current receiver isn't actually 5.1 rather, simulated.

Front: Tannoy Mercury Mx3’s
Rear Tannoy Mercury Mx2
Centre: Tannoy Mercury MxC
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-D511
