Please move this elsewhere if you so deem; I post here to get urgent attention.
I have used a Duratec Platinum Calcium 46Ah battery in my Nissan Exa (Langley) for the last almost seven years; it now seems to have reached its end-of-life. Previous experience with lead-acid batteries yielded about 3 years max. of use, irrespective of brand (most were SABAT anyway.).
Only previous personal experience (about 1970s) with an alkaline battery was in a Chev 4,1 station wagon (including a.c. and extra powerful head lamps) of about 4,5 years, again exceeding lead-acid type life. At the time dissatisfaction by others was registered; some were withdrawn from the market. As said, mine comfortably outlasted normal types.
Question: Matters have developed the past 6 years. Do any owners or knowledgeable persons advise pro/con the use of present-day calcium barreries - are they still available?
(There are several 'petrolheads' on this forum; what say you please?)
Thanks!!
