Using only 1 channel on power amp

Hi
I have 2 power amps with 2 channels each and wants to know if there are any negative effects if you use only 1 channel on each amp? The speakers only have 1 set of terminals so bi-wiring is not an option. Must I swop the channels from time to time or is it save to keep on using the 1 channel the whole time?
