My current stereo setup is a laptop(Jriver)/Nakamichi CDP > Cambridge Audio Dacmagic plus > Krell 300I > Monitor Audio Silver 10.
I am generally happy with the sound but at times it sounds a bit bright, maybe due to the age of the recordings of my CD's (70's and 80's).
iI have played around with the EQ on Jriver but that goes against the grain of not playing with the signal.
I lust after a Valve Audio Predator but that will have to wait a while.
My question is: Would a valve pre-amp be a worth while addition to this setup in terms of musicality and toning down the brightness?
If so, what would you recommend as a valve pre amp.
I would like to buy used but I don't see valve pre amps often in the classified.
