Visited Stefan to listen to the Ongaku .System was Kondo Japan Ongaku amp clone,Stefanophile Speakers. Holo Streamer and Holo DAC. Sounded different to Shindo Montille with same components but comparable which is high praise for the Ongaku clone which has only about 60 hours burn in. Sound was enjoyable. System has synergy . Coherent from 35 hZ upwards . Tops, mids, bass all super. Holographic in the extreme, air between instruments , fast etc etc etc. Most noticeable was that I could follow every instrument independently and perfectly whilst they played in perfect synch. Uncanny to say the least. Wide wide wide stage , delicate highs , incredible midrange and clear bass. 20 watts but drive in spades. I guess it’s the big tubes. I would like the Ongaku and the Shindo in my home. The latter for intimate listening cos the Shindo simply pulls me in. The former for all the qualities described above. OF course THE SPEAKERS ARE ESSENTIAL. Well done Stefan. Congrats. P.s. will revisit when amp has done another 200 hours. Watch this space.
