I have B&W speakers (683 & htm61) being driven by a Rotel 1575. Using a Denon 3310 AV Receiver as a preamp. Speakers are rated 200w amp is rated at 250w.
While I probably wouldn't be pushing volume levels to max, how can one calculate the safest max volume for the speakers, if at all possible?
The denon has a 0-100 scale as well as a db scale for the volume. 250w @ 78% = 195w. So I was thinking that by limiting the Denon volume will be the safest thing to do - in the settings I can set it to either 71 or 81. That is of course assuming that the denon volume is linear and has a proportional linear effect on the power delivered to the speakers. Is this assumption correct?
