My main system now is a pair of B&W 603 S2 powered by a Rotel 1080 with a Rotel DAC of similar vintage (forget the model number). Mostly I listen to streamed hi Res and locally stored hi res classical recordings via windows based PC.
I love the system - the scale of the sound is beyond what I ever imagined I would have in my living room. But I am considering moving on - and I think I'm looking at leaving the B&W's behind.
My critiques of the system as it is are that it is intolerant of lower quality recordings - by this I mean early digital which it tends to render a little shrilly and which can be fatiguing. Also, it needs to be listened to at high volume to bring out the best in it which also tends to start happening once it's been on and running for an hour or so.
I'm interested in suggestions as to which speakers I might want to keep an eye out for which would fit well with the rest of the system - I'm not averse to staying with the bowers wilkins brand.
