Which is better - to solder or not?

Hi
I want to know when fitting a mains plug is it better to solder the three stripped strand tips first before tightening them or just leave it unsoldered? I think with soldering on you can tighten it better without cutting of some of the fine strands and it does not seem to come loose so easily over a period of time. Anything wrong with this idea? :thinking:
