Hello.
I'm new to the forums and could really do with some good advice.
I've just gotten into the game. I picked up a old Dual 1019 and a beautiful little Quad 33/303.
I'm borrowing some speakers for now, as I can't afford to buy new ones.
My question is about the balance of the sound. I don't know how best to describe it, but sometimes records sound the way music sounds if you pull
the headphone jack halfway out. Sometimes it sounds fine, but other times, a vocal part or a guitar solo will completely disappear.
I've tried changing the amp setting from stereo to mono to a combination of the two (!), and while the sound is good, I know it's not as good as it could be.
I'm going to try and get a new set of DIN cables, and some plugs to connect the speakers properly, but if this fails, I'd really like to find someone I can trust to help me sort out the system.
Also, I'm in Cape Town city bowl.
My question is this:
Is there an honest shop or person I could take the setup to and know that they wouldn't gut the amp (I've heard bad stories around) or maybe there is a quick fix that I haven't considered.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Chris
