Over the past 5 years I?ve owned 3 Yamaha AV receivers and all of them, after a year or two of use, have had remote controllers that have failed. The sensitivity/response of the buttons would deteriorate over time until the remote eventually stops working altogether.
I was wondering whether this is a common problem with Yamaha receivers. Generally, how long is the life of a remote? Granted, the receiver?s remote is used more than others (because of its learning capabilities), perhaps that could explain the accelerated wear and tear. On the other hand I have a twelve year old VCR whose remote still works perfectly to this day despite much heavier use over the years.
