I just purchased a 'Yamaha RX-V675 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver' from Amazon USA, and confirmed with their online support staff that it's rated to work on ' 130/170/200/240 V '

I paid R.6,755.56, with shipping (fastest) and customs / duties.

The online support staff also informed me that I could return it to them for a refund,  where they will arrange shipping,  should it not working.

My question is,  if it doesn't work on our local 220/240V, at that price I paid. would it not be better to rather get a 220v to 110v AC-AC converter?

I think Rabtron sells a 1000W one (perhaps overkill?) for about R.900.oo or so.

And from a few posts,  I see that most modern electronics have built support to handle the frequency differences.
