My apologies (in advance) for yet another thread on Cat5 HDMI extenders.
As part of an insurance claim an installer fitted a set of Unitex HDMI extenders to provide signal to the TV. The Unitex extenders use twin cables: the cables are not marked so I am presuming Cat5. The cable length is approximately five metres.
The Unitex units recently were hit by a power surge, and so must be replaced. The installer no longer stocks Unitex and suggested a unit costing +R9,000 as a replacement.
After scanning the forums for most of the afternoon I have come to the following conclusions, said conclusions being based on comments posted in the forums:
It would be appreciated if someone could provide the name (and contact details) of a supplier of the twin-cable units, preferably in Gauteng.
Failing which, would anyone recommend the unit from AV Supply ?

- Twin cable units are preferable;

- In addition the units offered by HD Cabling appear to suffer quality control problems.
