    Blueray players

I see you are using the BDP s470, maybe upgrade to the S480 that is a worthwhile upgrade!

    Blueray players

+1 I do not think you can improve much on a format that has been invented by Sony. The BDP s480, IMHO is a fantastic blu-ray player "bang for your buck"  that streams video and audio flawlessly using its DLNA features so keep it do not waste your money on more expensive players with less features.

    Yes, another HP Microserver thread!

To my knowledge your statement would only apply if you were configuring a RAID setup.  Individual volumes I do not think it would make much of a difference ... well I have 2x normal Sata 3.5" Seagate 7200 rpm drives currently installed and is working fine ... Thanks, that's great I will do the...

    Yes, another HP Microserver thread!

Hi Guys I would like to know if you can just add any Sata 3.5" hardrive to the HP Microserver? I was told that you have to keep the specs the same as what you currently have installed. What I was looking at is as follows: 2TB, 3G, SATA 7.2K rpm LFF (3.5-inch) Non-hot Plug, but this costs an...

    Introductions Thread

Hi Forum members my name is Keith and I have been a member since July 2011. My interest in HiFi started when I was a teenager playing around with my older brother's HiFi set, which he banned me from using. However when he was not around, I had my way with it.  I joined the forum to learn about...

    DACs: Spoiled for Choice

Yes, you are correct after attempting it, I found there was no real improvement by the receiver onboard DAC. Have you tried the musical Fidelity v-dac Mk2? I am looking at this DAC for my stereo setup because it suets my budget. How does it compare to it's big brother the M1 DAC?

    DACs: Spoiled for Choice

I found the plug-in, in 3rd Party apps, enhanced digital outputs. This app is for external usb Dac and disables the analogue outputs while the Usb or digital output is in use. With the higher 192kHz sampling rate will this improve the sound of an onboard dac of an av receiver with a touch as a...

    DACs: Spoiled for Choice

Excellent review audiomuze, I would like to know how to find the plug in? What is it called and does it improve the Touch's sound if you bypass the external DAC and send it directly to the amp?

Latest What Hifi Magazine: Blu-Ray Player reviews

I would recommend the Sony BDP-S480, five star What Hifi rating. It is a 3D blu-ray player at an affordable price but it offers quite a host of features. My favourate is its DLNA functionality which allows me to stream movies from my computer flawlessly. It does require that you purchase the...

    Members' Kit pics

If you get stands that are high enough so that the couch does not interfere with the sound you should also be able to position it better than the floorstanders. The floorstanders IMO is an overkill for surround sound they would be better suited for the stereo setup.

How about getting bookshelves on stands, that should solve the problem then you can use the floorstanders for a stereo setup.
