@Skylark, I just had the latest drivers for each component downloaded and I installed them manually, and turned windows update completely off. Only MS Security essentials updates now. There is obviously a security risk without the updates but as it's just a media machine with nothing else really...

So, a brief update. Since I have turned off windows update everything is working 100% perfect and exactly as it should. Goes to show doesnt it.... ;)

I'm a big believer in the Audyssey setup. I think you should give it another go. First do the firmware update, then try Audyssey anyways as after a firmware update all your current settings will be gone.

I do like alot of the stuff found on parts-express and the other forums, but of course the biggest issue is the cost of shipping single orders to SA :(
