Does a Sunsynk inverter emit a "good" sine wave for audio?

I agree with your point on bonding the neutral to earth. Then earth-leakage can operate as intended. Sunsynk has a FB thread. The Approved Inspection Authority has a voice in it. Mr Leon Roos. In several posts he has outlined how earth and neutral must be bonded. Also describes which parts of...

Does a Sunsynk inverter emit a "good" sine wave for audio?

Question for ZACKMACK. You mentioned a 1:1 transformer. Is this a unit purchased locally? From who did you get it from? Any information in respect of ratings would be very useful. Apologies if these questions are too personal - but I suspect many of us would benefit from this information. My...

Chill okes, B&W and Marantz aren't going anywhere....

How about this as a view? Companies making kit like: Amplifiers (simple integrated, phono, pre and power) - excluding DACs and streamers) Turntables and phono cartridges Reel to reel tape decks Speakers Cables Accessories ( record cleaners, decoupling feet, stands). All of the above use...

    AV Equipment & Insurance

Having endured a flood a year ago which destroyed most of our household contents we had a crash course in short term insurance. I did not work in the short term industry, but learned a few of their practises in my working career. Many insurance companies pitch low to win business and then...

VA Exclame 150 XSE wows 3 Audio Nuts!

I’m curious to try replacement fuses. Anybody know where to source them from (local only please). Otherwise I’m going to have to be nice to my UK family members. Easy package to courier out to me.

    Big acoustic problem

What about trying some white noise? Record the sound of an air conditioner. The fan not the motor. Replay it through an amplifier and speakers It can be rigged up as a temporary solution and tested. Easy to turn it on and off and see how it performs.

FS - Media (CD/DVD/LP/Games) Equipment cleaning

I second the use of the fan as suggested by Chris above. I have same model. A good blast every six weeks or so does the job. Then we have a polish impregnated soft duster in our house. Which never gets washed. Our cleaner introduced this. She sprays Mr Min onto cupboards, glass tables and other...

    Generator supply to inverter

Here are the inverter default settings for generator connection. I looked in the specs for Luxpower LXP 10kW. Shows generator and wind as sources in addition to grid. No warnings given. Looking at your specs above, it seems that this device has a reasonable degree of latitude so a generator...

    Generator supply to inverter

I understand that comment. The generated power may contain significant amounts of harmonics. If the generated power is not “clean enough”, this could easily be solved by passing the feed through a CVT transformer- with a 1:1 ratio. A five kva unit won’t be enormous and will diminish the...

    Generator supply to inverter

Have a look here https://mybroadband.co.za/news/energy/569306-kiss-eskom-goodbye-2.html At least once per year we endure an extended outage in our area - Overstrand. Seems we have pylons in soft soil and some wooden ones too. Wind and rain blow pylons over. Fires burn the wooden ones. Can take...

    Generator supply to inverter

Thanks Chris. We use a heat pump to heat water for our shower's. That geyser is used for water storage only - element is disconnected. It draws about 1kW.

    Generator supply to inverter

I’m considering adding more power generation to my setup. I have 10 panels 555w each. Then a Luxpower 10kW inverter and a 14kWh battery. Feeds all loads. Currently not paying for power on sunny days. Sadly the cloudy days require purchase of power from municipal supply. I live in W Cape. Is...

    Yessongs and Progeny

I recall hearing Yessongs when I was much younger. I owned some of the studio albums including Fragile and The Yes Album. Yessongs had no life - no sparkle. To my ears it sounded low fidelity. Thanks for the heads up. Definitely worth a listen.

2024 Cape Town Audio Expo - 25th, 26th & 27th October at the Newlands Sun Hotel

I’m sure that Friday visits are sub optimal to an extent. Namely: 1. Internet connectivity was patchy in several rooms I visited. I just left when it became apparent that there were issues. Perhaps the hotel needs feedback on the issues. Demo rooms should not rely entirely on streaming. 2. One...

2024 Cape Town Audio Expo - 25th, 26th & 27th October at the Newlands Sun Hotel

I’d like to thank all who have devoted their time and resources to this event. It’s been a most rewarding experience for me to visit. I hope that all who made lots of effort reap rewards and benefits from their participation. IMHO - job well done. Thanks

My plumbing supply stockist in Hermanus has replacement anodes. Just under R200 each.

    Heatpumps

FWIW I saw articles that suggested 14 year life. Roughly we should save R75,000 if power from Eskom. Now we have inverter fed by solar most days, the saving is due to less battery and panels required. Probably worth at least R50,000. And the dormant geyser element is our backup- although 3x...

    Heatpumps

Interesting There’s nothing in the Kwikhot manual about anodes. Perhaps they want customers to buy new ones sooner than necessary! Anodes were important maintenance items for pipes and vessels when I worked at the CT refinery. I’m glad you raised this. I’ll take it up with the supplier in...

    Heatpumps

We have a Kwikhot heat pump.Six years of use. The first 6 months we were in the house (which we built), I did not use the heat pump. Used the geyser element in the 150 liter geyser. Hectic times with numerous visitors so I was reluctant to test the heat pump until it was less busy. I phoned...

    Equipment Isolation

Lightning voltages are high. Think voltage numbers in the thousands- and higher. Roughly, when we studied high voltage engineering- the rule of thumb to successfully break arc currents was: one centimetre per thousand volts. So if a lightning strike nearby delivers 5000 volts at the sockets...
