Well said Ingvar.  With too low tracking force, the stylus may well loose contact with the groove and effectively become a "projectile" which will collide with the opposite grove wall and may chip away portions resulting in serious permanent groove damage.  I am sure some of the vinyl fundis can...

I have used cooler-master-elite-120 and was very pleased with it - well made and finished, a newer model is also available cooler-master-elite-130.  The cooler-master-haf-915r suggested by Wolvebain also seems interesting and is available even cheaper from Raru.

With a typical DMM with at least a 3 1/2 digit display with appropriate range setting or autorange so that you are using all the display digits, you are sensing to much better than 0.1 dB anyway, so a DMM is quite adequate with the proviso's I mentioned above. Regards Huntly
