Just bear in mind that the HP Microserver is not silent. The sound of the fan is noticeable so depending on where you will place it, it may have some effect on your musical experience. It all depends on your preferences

It doesn't come with an operating system. You can install UBUNTU for free and use it to backup data from your home network. It's a wonderful tiny machine.

I do have the MA GX100 as Stereo speakers: before I had the RX2?s on that role, and I can certainly confirm that they do have more bass presence. They are more fluid and harmonic that the RX2?s as well. Either way: onitor Audio is a great choice IMHO

I can understand that pure recording is perhaps never done with a 5.1  listener environment in mind. My feeling however, as subjective as it may be, is that I?ve enjoyed outstanding 5.1 DVD-AUDIO music. I?ve found that the split of the instruments has been done so well (even if ?artificially?)...

Why not trying something more...modern, like the Asus Xonar Essence ST. I can guarantee you'll have less issues with the drivers... I do have one if interested

I tried one BR that didn't work and after the last upgrade it did. It was a BR that would allow you to check your Home speakers for Audio positioning. So there are some cases where you'll need to wait for a firmware update, but those are the exception rather than the norm.

Do you leave yours ON all the time? I switch it only when needed: my thinking is that now that they'll be discontinued I may save some life time.

I do have the Impact 12 and I couldn't be happier. Only noticeable on movies though
