Closed back phones are usually more bassy and closed in. They are not generally speaking ideal if moving from speakers. Open back headphones are usually where you find the best clarity and detail and they tend not to leave the user feeling claustrophobic. Some suggestions depending on budget...

Great service, unfortunately I have had the exact opposite from a different but very big supplier, no rush to get the defective product replaced, simply get told its on the way (going for a month waiting). Great to see local guys actually adding value to the brands and giving the service needed.

Good pair of headphones, but for the price (locally R10k) they not stand out favourites sonically. They are simply beautiful to hold and unbox, but there is no question you pay handsomely for all the Italian leather and aluminum.

Thanks guys, at the time I was looking at the B&W 805 Diamonds, so they were not cheap. Never looked back, they are truly magnificent speakers. I still need to sort my rubbish out and get them amplification that does them justice, but they sound plenty nice as they stand. I'm a Wharfedale...

They really are special, the black ones that hifi Corp sold are not quite the same as the one pair I ordered, so my rears don't have the 24k gold plated spikes for instance. Not sure if there are other differences, but the opus 2-3 in that rosewood is just brilliant.

Has loads of grunt, well built, good warm signature, for 8k brand new it is excellent value, but I would say the Exclame has the edge at the second hand price.
