    2008 Waveguide TMM

Excellent! I also built a set of these a few years back and they were brilliant. I preferred the simplistic XO over the perfectionist one though.

    Management Lingo Bingo

Let's unpack the issue and drill down to the pain points. We should get the key drivers out of these and execute an action plan. And my worstest phrase of all : in terms of. I knew someone who used that 3 times in a sentence. It gets used on 702 all the time.

    Samsung plasma- faulty again

Had the same issue on mine. I called Samsung and their agent was here the following day. They replaced the panel in the unit at my house.

Basic electronics ... filters and voltage dividers. Going mad.

You are not measuring the response with the equivalent load connected. 33k is impossibly high for an attenuator that'll drive a speaker. Measure the resistance of the coil then use that as a load and start from scratch.

^^^ How many of those have you sent out? I received two identical ones a few months back.

Fancy VU Meter on the Amplifier

    Nothing

Balanced power amplifier - what's the point?

There's a good technical reason to go balanced on high power amplifiers: Everyone knows that in order to get more power out of an amplifier you need to raise the voltage to the output stage. In many cases you would also parallel the output stage to make sure you can supply the amount of current...

Fancy VU Meter on the Amplifier

The emitter (or drain) resistor of the output stage. 99.99% of amplifiers have these.

Can Silence Actually Drive You Crazy?

I dunno about silence, but I know silent treatment can drive you batsh1t crazy

    Bias stability question

I was under the impression that you do that for Common Collector output stages as opposed to the more popular Emitter Follower configuration? Reason being that CC stages would have a negative tempco?

    Scan Speak Drivers

+1^^^ And I still have a cupboard full of SS Revelator drivers that I must use (and a bunch of Seas as well)...
  16. gbyleveldt

    Bias stability question

+1. You should never run an Emitter Follower output stage without thermal feedback. Things can turn ugly real quick and then the expensive output stages go for a ball of phoo

    Cost of living....

True as nuts. JZ opens his trap and the ZAR takes a hit

    Bias stability question

How are you sensing the temps in the amp? A VBE Multiplier stuck on the heatsink? If so, with pretty large heatsinks, such variations shouldn't be an issue. Yes, it's 30% of bias but in a true sense that's only an issue if you not providing enough bias in the first place.
