You are not measuring the response with the equivalent load connected. 33k is impossibly high for an attenuator that'll drive a speaker. Measure the resistance of the coil then use that as a load and start from scratch.

There's a good technical reason to go balanced on high power amplifiers: Everyone knows that in order to get more power out of an amplifier you need to raise the voltage to the output stage. In many cases you would also parallel the output stage to make sure you can supply the amount of current...

The emitter (or drain) resistor of the output stage. 99.99% of amplifiers have these.

I was under the impression that you do that for Common Collector output stages as opposed to the more popular Emitter Follower configuration? Reason being that CC stages would have a negative tempco?

+1. You should never run an Emitter Follower output stage without thermal feedback. Things can turn ugly real quick and then the expensive output stages go for a ball of phoo

How are you sensing the temps in the amp? A VBE Multiplier stuck on the heatsink? If so, with pretty large heatsinks, such variations shouldn't be an issue. Yes, it's 30% of bias but in a true sense that's only an issue if you not providing enough bias in the first place.
