It's amazing what a breath of fresh air in the outdoors can do for you. I just came in from my after-dinner cigarette on the porch
and I can't help but feel somewhat "enlightened" by my experience so I thought I'd share it with you good folk and perhaps give you
the opportunity to try this out for yourselves in your own space.  It will take a mere 2-3 minutes of your time at most.

Required Tools:
1. No fancy equipment is necessary here, and no cigarettes either  :giggle:  Your ears are all you need.
Just approach it with an open mind.  (Well...even the skeptical minds are welcome.
All I ask is that you be honest when you post what you find.)

What You Do...
Simply go outside onto your porch, or into your garden if you prefer.
Now... without turning your head, close your eyes and listen to the sound of everything around you.
There are more-than-enough amazing sounds outside for this to work, I assure you.
Listen intently... just like you would when auditioning a new sound system with your own choice of music CD.
Pay attention to the soundstage and try drawing a mental picture of it's dimensions (particularly how narrow
or wide you perceive it to be.)  You need to be listening for Soundstage & Imaging here.

SOUNDSTAGE - refers to the horizontal (virtual) space created by Front L&R channels in stereo.
IMAGING -        refers to the (virtual) placement of instruments with emphasis on depth (near or far) within the sound spectrum.

In the final stage of this experiment.... still with eyes closed, and without turning your head, you're now going to be listening
in SURROUND.  DO NOT TURN YOUR HEAD AT ANY TIME.  Face the same direction throughout and allow your ears to do a slow 360 degree
pan around you.  Listen carefully, and when you reach halfway (the sounds directly behind you) pause for just a moment...
now pay attention to what sounds from behind you TRULY sound like...  "THIS" is the most important finding for me.

I started this thread because I was eager to tell you all what I experienced but in the end...  I think it would be far more interesting
to hear your own findings....

*PS.  This all may sound a little kooky and "new-age" to some of you but please give it a try.  I'm sure you'll see what I'm on about.  ;)
