So went to Pick n Pay Hyper today to buy a TV. Took along my TV license and ID as normal. Last time I did this they just made copies. Now the salesman first checked to confirm TV license and ID particulars matched. He then had to phone SABC (took a while to actually get an answer) to get a release ref. number for the TV. Of course this entailed going over all license and ID details again with the SABC and wham... my license expired on 30th. June!!
So sorry, can't get the TV until license is renewed. Of course this is not a problem as you can conveniently do this at Pick n Pay
Those SABC wankers are supposed to send you a reminder before your license is due for renewal.
