Hello all,

Happy Friday (well, maybe for you, anyway)

I posted on the forum a couple days back about a setup that I was struggling with.

I'm running a Dual 1019 TT into a Quad 33 Preamp, a 303 Power Amp and Boston Acoustics A40s which I picked up from Andre. Everything was working beautifully until today, when things started to get hectic.

The heatsink on the poweramp is getting extremely hot after just a few minutes of play at quiet volumes.
As the heat increases, the signal coming out of one channel gradually deteriorates (over about 3 minutes) and then dies completely.

I first noticed when I put on some Curtis Mayfield this afternoon, after not using the system for maybe 4 days.
I could hear that one of the channels sounded like it was coming through a loose connection. I reinserted the Tape and Disc PCBs into the preamp, and this made no difference. The signal coming into the preamp from the TT is good.
After switching the TT output L/R leads and speaker cables, I'm pretty sure that the preamp is sending out two clean channels.
The fuses in the preamp and the amp are intact.

Does anyone want to take a stab at the issue?
Can the preamp cause the amp to overheat? (The amp draws its power from a pretty verlep lead coming out of the 33)
or is it most likely a blown or damaged component in the amp itself?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This Hi-Fi thing is a cruel mistress, I'll tell you that much
