After taking it to the agents, they've confirmed the problem I was having with my RX-V1900 is due to a blown D-Video PC board and the cost to repair is R3570 incl. VAT.  I also have to get the remote and set-up mic which I don't mind.  Cost of those is R920.  I paid R3600 for the amp (I was done in by a guy by the name of Enos - con artist alert - 073 038 2473.  I was going to pay him the balance when he brought me the original remote.  Total I will then have paid for the amp is then R8100.

The agents gave me a blurb about not being able to give discounts on repairs or products because their profit margins are so low - lower than the dealers.  I phoned for a quote on the remote in December and the price was R580 incl. VAT.  When I went to drop the unit for inspection (about 3 weeks later) it had mysteriously risen to R650 :nutter:  First time I heard of dealers having bigger profit margins than agents!

I'm wondering if I should have this repaired or sell the amp with the original remote and mic?  It does have a component monitor out.  I honestly can't tell too much difference between pictures over component out and HDMI, so I guess I may be happy with picture over component out.  In all other areas the amp works 100% and is in very good cosmetic condition
