Cambridge Audio 640A V2 amplifier left channel issues

Hello all, long time (I blame Schalk and a few others because I have no reason to visit the classifieds anymore ) The left channel on my Cambridge Audio 640A V2 amplifier disappears now and then. Initially I thought it was a dirty volume pot because when you move the volume quickly the...

    Upgrading car audio

Well they say Frequency Response: 35 - 23000 Hz on the Soundmatch website which made me think that I'lll take the sub-less route for now.

    Upgrading car audio

Thanks again for all the input. It is very clear that good quality splits in the front is the way to go here. So my plan is to use my R3000 budget and start with something good that I can improve on later if the bug is still there.....or if required. So for the front...

    Upgrading car audio

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice guys!! It's good to know that my budget can get me somewhere. I'm going to start looking at prices with the suggestions and then see where it will get me. Would definitely go the DIY route on this one.

    Upgrading car audio

Hello people Been a while since I posted but too busy listening to music  :O0: So - I want to upgrade my car audio without breaking the bank or installing 12" sub woofers  :pleasant: All I want is quality as it sounds lame/muffled compared to everything else. It could just be the upgrade bug...

    My latest upgrade

I found the 804's to sound best max distance that my room can allow apart. That's only 2.7m apart to allow each speaker to be 1m from the sidewalls. That's sort of the sweet spot in my room but I've always wondered how they would sound 3m + apart if I had more space. I've tried the GBS method...

    Eltax speakers

Bought a pair of bookshelfs about 10 years ago in England for 1 pound on ebay (no reserve was set). I still have them and they play everyday in our office. They sound really good too after playing them 9hrs a day for the last 7 years. I didn't realize that they still make speakers and my pair is...

Benefits of room treatment: Fact or fiction

Being an audiophile is a a bit like being a golfer. You can buy a better game up to a point but you have to put in some hard work to get massive improvements. I don't have a dedicated room either but started on the journey to do whatever I can in my room.  mmmm I think it was after a...

    Cover "better" than the original?

The man who sold the world - Nirvana unplugged. On that note - I was at a party the other night and a cover of "Comfortably numb" by the Scissor Sisters played. One of the younger females said - OOOOOH what a great song and it must be in her top 5 of all time. I asked her if she knew that it...

Source: Old school VS. New school

I listen to radio the most actually. TuksFM - only rock radio station in SA. PC with DAC connected to a NAS - for serious listening. Vinyl - for extremely serious listening sessions, dates and wine drinking.

    The perfect triangle listening position

 Maybe I should have another crack at GBS and on the same day move the lounge around temporarily.

    The perfect triangle listening position

Haha, don't think your lounge will work the other way around. It sounds really good the way it is though.

    The perfect triangle listening position

Hello Forumites So most of us know that to get the best sound is to have your listening position in the perfect triangle to your speakers. In the "Get Better Sound" book it mentions that you should sit a bit further away from your speakers. I can't remember the exact calculations now but I...
