To sub or not to sub in stereo

Yes you can. After reading some of the previous posts it seems I need to try the speaker inputs very soon. I thought they were just there if you don't have pre-outs on your amp.

To sub or not to sub in stereo

45Hz cutoff for the sub and speakers running at full range. I still need to play around a bit but so far 45Hz is the sweet spot for me. I will get the measuring mic out soon to fine tune it and see what freq will give me the flattest response. It can also get very confusing if your volume on the...

To sub or not to sub in stereo

Hi Timbaland, I'm using 804S's with a PV1D similar to your setup. It really makes a huge difference with good bass in my room. I was a bit worried that the 8" won't do (that's what she said ) but yes there are X 2 subs in the PV1D/PV1 and it really integrates well with the 804S's I think...

To sub or not to sub in stereo

Agree 100% It's all about how you set it up. It must just add to the music and not overpower it. If you get that right just about all music sounds better.

Changed opamps on 651p phonostage and....

I see a lot of companies (overseas) offer services like this where they mod the caps and cut a few tracks etc etc for $120 or so. Easy quick money I would say. But in my case it was definitely not just knowing you modded it and it must sound better. It sounds better!! Maybe I will open up my CD...

Changed opamps on 651p phonostage and....

Not sure if you can and I defnitely don't want to say just do it. I found this on the 540P - http://www.audioreview.com/cat/amplification/preamplifiers/cambridge-audio/azur-540p/prd_334479_1591crx.aspx About in the middle of the page some guy talks about replacing the NE5532 opamps which are...

Changed opamps on 651p phonostage and....

Hi Guys Just thought I'll share this. Changed the opamps on my Cambridge Audio 651p from NE5532 to LM4562 and the difference was quite huge. Normally A/B listening tests (maybe blind too) are the only way I can hear small differences but bliksem this made a difference. I can't believe that it...

    SPEAKER PLACEMENT

Hi CORY You not the only confused one or should I rather say I'm experimenting too. I think most of us are limited by space so that's why you see so many setups with the speakers 2m apart. In the B&W 804S manual they say nothing either (think >1.5m only) but I had some KEF's that said >1.5m and...

    Advice - Subwoofer

I was referring to the 0-180 phase yes. In one of the B&W subwoofer manuals they mention that the best setting of phase is the one with the fullest bass but start with 0. In my case it was 180 which I still don't understand....  There was another thread about this a while ago. It...

    Advice - Subwoofer

Had a mate over the other night to test/settle the ongoing cable debate with his 805D's. So I set up 4 tests for him. 1 - Stupid expensive speaker cable 2 - Ellies cable 3 - Ellies cable with a subwoofer (the lower end ASW300) very low volume at 55 Hz crossover. 4 - Stupid expensive speaker...

    Advice - Subwoofer

Been googling this topic quite a bit (subs with stereo music only) . The Velodynes with the built in auto equalizers are very popular and from what I hear they sound very good and it's easy to get the crossovers right. Then the PV1D from B&W sounds like the one to get for music. The equalizer is...
