Some pics of my refurbished Dynaco SCA-35

Ampdog your are 100% correct in your observations and solutions. The original balance pot on the SCA 35 was made by Centralab in USA as were many of the other pots in the Dynaco range. The pot is often claimed to have been specially made for the Dyna company. The word is that the pot was a...

Some pics of my refurbished Dynaco SCA-35

My solution to the balance pot problem. Alps blue velvet anti-log taper pot on a custom made PCB. The original pot was 750K. This one is 250K works perfectly in my first SCA 35. There are 500K pots available which should also do the job.[/img] Edit by F_D: Fixed pic link.

    Car audio amp test results

Joel I applaude you for conducting these tests. BUT... the differences which may have been heard during the tests are no longer audible when the car is started and driven on the road. I too will not be replacing my home audio kit with even the most expensive car audio equipment. Gone are the...

    Western Union

Bank charges for T/T, EFT or wire transfer is related to the amount of funds being transferred. If the US bank was charging your client 85.00USD then the amount being transferred was over 20K in ZAR ( twenty thousand ).If this was the case then O.K. If not then your client and or his bank were...

    Advice on soldering SMD please

Place a dab of liquid solder paste from a dispensing syringe onto the PCB pad. With a tweezer place the component onto the paste. Hold the component in place and solder with the iron. A soldering iron with temperature control is a bonus. Set temperature to 250 C. Once component is soldered on...

Converting a ceramic input to a moving magnet input

Endstufen is normally an amplifier. There's also mention of amplifier control (reglerverstarker) and the output to a 4ohm loudspeaker. Don't thing this is a phono stage somehow. Do you have the schematic for this PCB layout?

    Recommendations for decent tube tester

Ampdog, I've seen some cheap solutions on the internet and the Hickok will be used just for a few projects and yes the way I want to go is expensive for most. If I manage to get the tester and use it for a while I'll probably sell it locally. This way someone in S.A. will benefit and we'll have...

    Recommendations for decent tube tester

Made up my mind. It's a completely rebuilt Hickok 750. Will negotiate price with the seller within this week. Problem is once I'm finished with the valve audio projects I've lined up, what will I do with the tester?
