I have a Thorens Td150 II and have been using a Shure M44MC with an Ed Saunders Eliptical. this has given the best results to date. however I found an Pickering V15 AT/2 and a Stanton 500 with a non labeled stylus that fits both. I suspect it is a Spherical diamond. Now I recently bought some old vinyl, imports and in good shape but somwhat lacking top end brightness when played back using the Shure, but when I use the Pickering and Stanton the brightness is recovered and tonal balance much improved. Attempts to use this pair on other new pressings results in too much brightness and a harshnes not experienced whith the Shure combo. My ? : Is this a common outcome with Pickering and Stanton. If so it is usefull to have the option of tonal variation Between two head shells.
