Just an update guys & girls. I have had the 684's for a couple of weeks now and not fully played-in but all I can say is yes they are definitely an iprovement over the 685's. Maybe they're bigger than the space I can offer them to perform at their best but WOW, they sound Huge in every repect...

Hi felow forumites, I own a Rotel RB980BX power amp which is running my B&W 685's very well. Since I bought a pair of 684's I was thinking of increasing the power by getting a RB990BX or similar Rotel Power Amp (200watts x 2) or adding a 2nd RB980 in bridged mode (360watts x 2) From experience...

Over the weekend I was thinking how I could simplify my set-up by replacing the pre/power with an integrated and yes the Valve Audio came to mind. Then Valve Audio it will be when it's time to upgrade the amp. Best Regards Stephen

Hi Pappa and others, thanks once again for the feedback. It's not more bass that I'm wanting but an overhaul  improvement to the sound and dynamics. If the 684's offer better mids than the 685's then that to me is reason to upgrade without the addition of a sub. In fact I closed the bass ports...
